Oh, hairstyles! How a simple hairdo changes your entire look is truly remarkable! From a small hair cut to long curls and beachy waves on thick, long hair - don’t we love it when our hair looks its best? It is said that if you have good healthy hair, and you are flaunting it with a perfect hairstyle, you are the most confident. We are ready to step out and conquer the world. But “bad hair days” make us want to lock the rooms and stay inside our cosy blankets until that rough phase passes. Or you may take a shower if you’re not too lazy. But the point is, “Life is short. You might as well live it with really great hair.”

How do you get your hair to look really great?

It takes a professional hair stylist who can suggest and advise you about what type of hair length will suit you, what type of hair dye works best on your hair and look, what hairstyle to keep your staple, and what hairstyles to go for on casual days or special occasions and events. If you are contemplating what you should do with your hair, read on to see what options you have.

I have prepared a Hairstyle Guide 101! In short, if you are feeling like there’s finally time to change something, the answer is its probably your hair. Go for it! You can cut and chop it off, or you can add extensions to make them look voluminous. You could dye your hair any colour you are feeling, style them up with straightening and/or curling, cut your bangs or go blonder than you have ever been. Hairstyling is the most prominent feature of being fashionable!

The point is, there are SO many options of what you can do to your hair. Mixing up these different styles and options can result in life-changing looks for your personality, individual identity and look! And given that your hair is healthy and happy, and that you find a good hairdresser - you’re good to go! If you have the styling skills, you can do wonders yourself. Just make sure you have step-by-step instructions to follow, and you don’t mess something up. Because whatever goes wrong up there, it will be seen and you will need to visit a professional hairdresser anyway.

We all love styling our hair, but often don’t know where to look for inspiration. More than that, oftentimes we don’t know what hairstyles will even look good on us, according to our face size and if it will complement our look. There’s a lot to consider before you even select or start thinking about hairstyles, but I have got it all covered. Let’s talk about the basics and, before moving on to talking about hairstyles, let’s talk about hair in general.

Experimenting with your hair is all fun and games until your hair starts to give up on you because of the excessive use of hair dye or applying too much heat on it all the time. This is to say, that before I talk about the top, most famous and popular hairstyles of 2020, why don’t we take a look at how to take care of our hair, maintain it and keep it healthy so we can experiment with it without any sort of worry or stress?

Haircare 101: 5 Tips on taking proper care of your hair

Tip #1: Apply oil on your scalp at least 2 times a week! It provides a bundle of benefits:

  • Hydrates and gives the strength your hair needs
  • Nourishes your hair with healthy elements
  • Prevents hair fall and hair breakage
  • Removes dandruff
  • Improves hair growth, with stronger hair
  • Strengthens the hair roots and gives a healthy scalp

Tip#2: Take in a very balanced diet, and eat good food.

It is no secret that healthy hair requires a healthy diet. If your hair does not have its needed or required nutrients, you are prone to losing hair and breakage. Eat food that is rich in protein like eggs, green veggies, fatty fish and lots of nuts. Vitamin supplements also help hair growth and health by a major chunk. So, eat a diet of the 13 essential vitamins - especially Vitamin A and E. They are key to strong, shiny and healthy-looking hair.

Tip #3: Don’t wash hair daily!

Many women don’t realize that their hair does not need to be washed daily. You can go take a shower, but choose not to wash your hair. Turns out, washing hair daily is harmful to the natural oils that exist inside of your hair. If you remove too much oil from your scalp, you can have drying hair, more prone to dandruff and hair breakage. That’s not fun at all! And then most people, after showering, expose their hair to dryers which are again very unnecessary and damaging for your hair. It causes the thinning of hair, leading to more frizz. Always space our hair washing, its ideal to keep it twice or thrice a week. Dry shampoos work very well in the middle when your hair starts looking a little greasy, so just put a little on and it will all work out without you having to wash your hair too much.

Tip #4: Don’t apply too much heat on your hair!

Another major ‘Don’t’ tip is remembering consciously to not apply too much heat on your hair. We all love sleek, shine and straight hair sometimes, and pick up a straighter to smoothen the look out. But it’s good if it’s only on special occasions. Doing that every day for school or college is plain unnecessary, and it is hurting your hair a lot. Sometimes, you feel like having some beautiful, playful, bouncy curls - but an excess of heat is, again, very damaging for your hair. It is said that heat protectant rods make a difference, but they don’t really work and using heat on your hair every day is even more damaging anyway. It is always a very wise decision to let your hair air dry after a shower. The goal is to reduce the use of heat by a major amount and cut it off from everyday daily life usage. Keep the use of all heat products at the very minimum, safety tucked away. Out of sight, out of mind is not always a bad idea!

Tip #5: Know the proper way on how to brush your hair!

We take so many things for granted, and never see really that what we may be doing is actually the wrong way of doing certain things. There’s always room for growth! We all should know something as simple and daily as brushing our hair! First off, take a look at your hair brush. Is it filled with clumps of hair, or even one or two strands stuck in? Do you use the same brush if you want to brush again? If you said yes, you’re probably doing it wrong. Take that clump out and clean it. Secondly, always brush your hair from the bottom first. Make sure the bottom side of all your hair is straightened and smoothened out without knots or tangles, and then slowly make your way to the top. This always ensures minimum hair breakage.

Don’t ever brush your hair when it is wet! If you really want to, use a comb that is wide-tooth or simply run your fingers through them to set them up a little. I would even go as far as saying you need to clean your brushes. Dirty brushes cause bacteria growth, which makes hair susceptible to more breakage. Another recommendation is using a Boar Bristle Brush, which has natural brushes that make your hair grow healthily by massaging the scalp. It also regulates blood flow to the hair follicles better, which is super awesome for better longer, healthier hair fast! Remember, these brushes aren’t best suited for wet hair.

So, what’s trending in the hairstyle department?

Now that we are aware of how to actually take care of our hair, we can go on to the next step to actually style it! Now there are different sort of hair textures, different lengths - short, medium and long. Then some hair requires separate treatment if it has already been bleached, or has had a cut-down, or has undergone some hair related treatment. You have to take into consideration all these factors - and then make a decision that you love best.

2020 has seen some of the most amazing hairstyles! It has been a year of experimentation, and even that is an understatement. People have cut their own hair in the long periods of lockdowns and quarantine and truly experimented with their hair and what they wanted to do with it. But what were the most trending looks? Are you looking for some hot new trending celebrity hairstyles?

In need of a new do? I found the top 5 celebrity hair style trends that you are going to fall in love with! Get yourself some winter-time inspiration, and rock your new hair like never before. Whether it is a bob cut, an edgy pixie hairstyle, bangs (which were extremely popular this year), the chicest braid styles or some fab hair dye jobs - I have got it all in the mix!

  1. Bright-coloured Hair Dye:

Perhaps the biggest trend of this year in hairstyles among celebrities was of dyeing their hair. And we are not talking platinum blonde or ombre brown (although that, too, happened.) But this year, we got to see celebrities pull off hair dyes in bright and bold colours! For example, Joe Jonas went bright pink alongside a fuchsia buzz cut on his hair just this October. Hilary Duff went for a complete aqua blue which looks phenomenal and suits her so well! Sarah Hyland tried a very “The Little Mermaid's Ariel” red hair look, and this style was so common that we even saw Kim Kardashian West go for a bright, poppy red in July.

Megan The Stallion got literal rainbow colours back in June that looked bomb as hell! Even Lady Gaga went for a beautiful ocean blue look with her hair. It was definitely a year where I saw the most changes made by celebrities. Looks like everyone definitely did want a change. And changing your hair sounds like a wonderful idea, does it not? It’s always in fashion, and you can always experiment to see what new wonderful look can potentially become your own staple style and become a part of your own unique, personal fashion identity!

  • Light and Bright Blonde:

Another very popular look was going lighter and blonder this 2020. We saw celebrities who have always been known for their dark locks who entirely changed up their look this year. It has been such a fresh new look that I personally love it! This year, we saw Ariel Winter go from her dark black to icy blonde look - completely changing her look. We saw Kaia Gerber go from her dark brown to a beautiful chic blonde, to a salmon pink dye, to brown again! Emily Ratajkowski also took her chance, and she took a 180 from her usual chocolate to an extremely bright blonde - and boy does she look good! This reminds me of Leighton Mister’s 2018’s sudden bright blonde looks which wow-ed everyone! At the start of this year, Olivia Colman also got a very beautiful light blonde look for the Oscars.

  • Short n’ Cute:

It’s amazing how many celebrities went for the short haircut this year. Goodbye long locks, you could not take the win for 2020. It’s a year for short hairstyles! Camila Cabello is known for her long dark hair (and her singing of course), but she surprised us all with her beautiful simple curly short hairstyle this year. Brittany Snow looked absolutely beautiful in her very new short hair, light and bright blonde look from her iconic orange one. Ashlee Simpson also chopped down her hair to very short, maintaining her gorgeous light blonde style. Sharon Stone usually keeps her hair short, but she went even shorter alongside her blonde and light hairstyle! I think one can never go wrong with short n’ cute - who knows - it may just become your new iconic look!

  • Bangs/Fringe:

I saw everyone around me experimenting with cutting their own bangs in their washrooms, and it will be absolutely right to say that it was not only just us - but celebrities too who wanted to give ‘bangs’ a chance this year! Jennifer Lopez completely stunned us all with her beautiful, chic and stylish hot fringe. I saw Priyanka Chopra rocking some awesome bangs too! Bella Hadid’s 2000-style side bangs definitely killed us all, and then Selena Gomez went for something super chic curly bangs that gave the 70’s look!

Olivia Culpo also played with her bangs, and they really do seem to suit her! I personally loved Kelly Osbourne’s new fringe, with sleek purple lowlights and a platinum blonde. Dua Lipa also played around with bangs around April, and they looked as fab as she is!

  • Pixie and buzz cuts:

A pixie cut or a buzz cut always seems to be so super iconic that they never miss the mark. I already talked about Joe Jonas’s super funky buzz cut, which is so nicely structured that I love it with the hot pink. Halsey seems to rock every single hairstyle she has ever tried out, but her super beautiful multi-coloured buzz look with shades of lime-green and blue outshined it all! We all know about Ruby Rose’s green pixie and buzz cuts that she is known to absolutely rock! Maggie race’s dark Pixie haircut continues to be a favourite for many, it is so fashionable and pretty!
